Join the SkiHawks on the East Side of St. Paul as we celebrate Octoberfest (OK, we are a bit late, but it's still October) at the Yoerg Brewery. The Yoerg Brewery has been a SkiHawk favorite.
The Yoerg Brewery name dates to 1848 when it was founded and began brewing Bavarian style beer. The caves on the West Side of St. Paul were used for natural aging. Yoerg was brewed in St. Paul until 1952 when the brewery was destroyed by the historic floods of that year. You can't go back to 1848, but you can still taste the beer because the resurrected Yoerg is still brewing it today.
Besides the original Yoerg brew, the owners of the Yoerg Brewery rotate old European classics from Germany, Austria and Belgium, as well as beers brewed by Trappist monks in the US. Yoerg's website boasts over 50 beers in stock with more on the way. Check it out here.
If you are not a beer drinker, there is a great selection of European and domestic wines that you are sure to enjoy.
Food is available from a tasty menu of unique, locally sourced German sausages, European styled charcuterie & cheese plates, local gourmet pizzas and more.
The brewery is a cozy place with character. It has expanded, and their new gathering room will be open for us.
Street parking may be a bit tight. However, Metro State U's parking ramp is just across the street. Normal rates are $5, but you can get a $2 ticket at the brewery.
Come, enjoy SkiHawk camaraderie while trying this unique place. Hope to see you there!
