Beaver Creek, is a Treat for the Ski Hawks
“Not exactly roughing it” is Beaver Creek’s slogan and after spending nearly a week of exploring the mountain and experiencing all that it offers we’ve decided, this is an awesome place! Trip leaders Mark and Gayle Moroney planned another terrific skiing vacation when 24 of our club members enjoyed the Rocky Mountain gem, Beaver Creek CO February 6th-12th.
We all boarded a slightly delayed Southwest Flight headed for Denver early AM on our first day. After a quick flight and stopping for supplies we were rolling west on I-70 headed towards Avon, and plenty excited for the fun that was about to start!
Our club occupied a good portion of the 2nd floor at Border’s Lodge a 4 star Ski in/out complex.
I was still unpacking when I looked out my window and saw Tom Blank making a splash in the hot tub, the bus hadn’t even finished unloading! But he had the right mindset, there’s so much to to enjoy here, why wait? That evening at our clubs’ wine and cheese party we found out about the Epic pass and its perks, more things to love at Beaver Creek.
Snow conditions we’re great they’d received 23 inches the week prior to our arrival. Each day there would be fresh snow to greet whomever was the first to get up the mountain. Check out the pictures to see Jack Silgen getting on the first chair!
We decided to miss the weekend crowds and go to Vail on Monday. It was fantastic, so much terrain, some good times were had in Pete’s Bowl and The George afterward, just ask Doug Hendrix where his happy place is!
After 6 nights it was all over much too soon. Beaver Creek delivered on everything as promised. The Ski Hawks can’t wait for another fun ski vacation!
